Nebulage is the debut album by the duo Kr-Krr, created by Nathalie Forget and Gilles Aubry. The starting point for this cooperation is the meeting of two worlds – the classic electronic instrument ondes Martenot and its digital reconstruction developed by Aubry using the Max/MSP environment. Instead of a simple dialogue between instruments, artists create a multi-layered sound space in which the acoustic presence of the performer constantly clashes with the possibilities of algorithmic processing.

Improvisation plays a key role here. The songs develop freely, moving from subtle, suspended structures to more dynamic and unpredictable forms. In the sound there are traces of radio disturbances, atmospheric noise and textures reminiscent of voices and signals from outside the human world. The result is an organic sound landscape where the boundaries between the natural and the electronic remain constantly fluid.

Nathalie Forget is one of the most outstanding contemporary performers playing ondes Martenot, working with both leading orchestras and conductors of contemporary music, as well as artists operating on the border of improvisation, experiment and rock music. Gilles Aubry is known for his activities on the noise scene and experimental music, where he uses field recordings, computer programming and electronics. Together, they create an album exploring the relationship between the history of electronic music and its contemporary, digital capabilities.

The culmination of Nebulage is a tribute to Olivier Messiaen. The artists reach for the motif associated with the Martenot ondes and place it in a foggy, suspended soundscape, which simultaneously appeals to the past and directs attention to the future. Thanks to this, the album becomes a fascinating encounter between tradition, improvisation and experimentation.
