PRESENTATION
Les Rencontres Sakhra sont une initiative qui vise à réunir des praticien-nes de l’art et de la recherche dans un cadre convivial ouvert au public. L’événement se déroule sur trois jours en avril 2025 à Moulay Bouchta, un village situé à 60 km au nord de Fès au Maroc. Les activités se déroulent principalement dans et autour de la maison de l’artiste Abdeljalil Saouli. Au menu : un programme d’expositions, de performances, d’ateliers, de promenades, de discussions et de repas partagés. Pour l’édition 2025, huit artistes et chercheur-ses sont invité-es à une résidence visant à redéployer leur pratique sur le site en vue d’une présentation publique. En échangeant avec les habitants, l’accent est mis sur les matériaux et les savoirs locaux utilisés dans la construction, la culture et les préparations culinaires, ainsi que sur l’écoute et la communication entre les espèces.

PROGRAMME
Installation sonore Kholwa
Une grotte près de la maison d’Abdeljalil Saouli abrite l’installation sonore Khowla. Le terme kholwa, en arabe marocain, désigne une pièce privée, un recoin ou un lieu de retraite, ainsi que l’acte de s’isoler ou de se retirer. Huit artistes créent de courtes pièces sonores en réponse au site, à son acoustique et autour du thème proposé, avec une grande liberté d’interprétation. Les pièces sont diffusées en continu dans la grotte par deux haut-parleurs. Le public est invité à s’immerger dans la contemplation des sons qui l’habitent, pour une écoute intime.

ORGANISATEUR-RICES
Abdeljalil Saouli is the main initiator and organizer of Rencontres Sakhra. Born in Fez in 1984, he graduated from the Institut national des beaux-arts de Tétouan (INBA) in 2012. From his village of Moulay Bouchta, where he has lived and worked since 2015, Abdeljalil Saouli favors modes of production rooted in an interaction with multiple practices linked to architecture and housing, working with the earth and the natural environment.
Carlos Perez Marin is an architect based in Ceuta (Spain), teacher at the National School of Architecture in Tetouan (from 2010 to 2013) and at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Tetouan, researcher and cultural activist. He is interested in the architectural heritage of North Africa, particularly that of the Sahara, urban and regional planning, contemporary cultures… Founder and co-founder of cultural initiatives in Spain, Morocco and Mauritania such as Marsad Drâa, Caravane Tighmert, Project Qafila, Sakhra and Caravane Ouadane (2021-2023). https://www.carlosperezmarin.com
Gilles Aubry works between sound and visual arts, experimental music and academic research. His practice draws on experimental research methods and transdisciplinary knowledge from the arts, humanities and technological studies, including film, performance, installation and radio art. His work focuses on a world in transit and in rapid transformation, shaped by ubiquitous platformization, uneven digitization and ecological injustice. He examines social environments, cultural conventions and technical apparatuses, paying particular attention to the politics and power dynamics of aurality in postcolonial contexts.
Fatima-Zahra Lakrissa is an independent curator and researcher. She began her professional career in Morocco at the Fondation nationale des musées, then at the Musée Mohammed VI d’art moderne et contemporain as head of cultural programming (2013-2018). She is interested in the layered subjectivities of European modern art history and the construction of Moroccan modernism through the works of artists engaging with the vernacular. Her research focuses on the sociology and history of the artistic avant-garde in Morocco in the 1960s and 1970s.
